Doctor of Health Administration (DHA)
School of Public Service Leadership
General Health Administration
Strengthen your management and leadership capabilities with this online DHA specialization designed to provide a broad, generalist perspective in health administration, including health care business practices and finance. The curriculum, developed around the National Center for Healthcare Leadership (NCHL) Competency Model™, emphasizes practice-based research and collaborative experiences. In the General Health Administration specialization, you can choose to focus on such topics as U.S. or global health policy, health care advocacy, leadership, and strategic vision and planning. An assessment at the beginning of your program helps you focus on skills you can strengthen or build on to improve your success as a health care administrator. You will participate in field experiences instead of a comprehensive examination, giving you the opportunity to apply your newly gained knowledge in a professional health care setting. You will also complete an action dissertation project using participatory research and reflective study to make a practical, evidence-based improvement in your organization or community. Convenient electronic textbooks lower costs and provide immediate access to course materials. People who choose this specialization are often pursuing executive positions in the health care industry.
