Clinical Psychology specialization
The Clinical Psychology PsyD specialization provides learners with comprehensive clinical training, based on theoretical and scientific foundations of psychology including psychological assessment and intervention. This specialization is designed to prepare learners for state licensure eligibility as a clinical psychologist and is a rigorous scholar-practitioner program that requires online course work blended with residency and clinical training experiences. People who choose this specialization typically pursue careers as licensed clinical psychologists, who may provide services in psychotherapy, psychological testing, mental health consulting, research, and teaching in higher education.
Clinical Training Requirements: 1,000 practicum hours and 2,000 pre-doctoral internship hours.

Residency requirements: Clinical Psychology year-in-residence
- Learn about the residential colloquia experience.
- In addition to your online courses, you will attend a year-in-residence, which begins in June and lasts through the following June. You begin the first June by completing one 2-week extended seminar. Over the course of the next year, you will participate in 8 additional weekends-in-residence. The year-in-residence ends with another 2-week extended seminar the following June.
What is the cost to attend?
The price for each extended seminar (including your first weekend-in-residence) is $3,265. The price per weekend-in-residence is $275. This does not include costs for evening meals or travel. You'll be responsible for making your hotel reservations and travel arrangements.

- Learners who enroll in this specialization without the academic background needed to fulfill certain course requirements may be required to complete the following courses:

Courses without a PSY designation may be worth fewer than five quarter credits. Learners must carefully plan their elective courses to ensure that total credit requirements for the degree are met. Special topics courses in the Harold Abel School of Social and Behaviorial Sciences can be used as an option to complete the total required credits needed for graduation.
Check state licensure requirements. The license to practice as a professional psychologist is regulated independently in each state or province. Learners who intend to seek licensure or certification should check the program requirements in the state or province in which they hope to practice. This program is not accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).
New York and North Carolina residents are currently not eligible to enroll in this specialization.
