The Post-Master's Certificate in College Teaching is designed to assist college-level academic subject experts in mastering instructional skills, including the ability to teach effectively online. This certificate prepares experts to excel as teachers by acquiring knowledge of learning theory, educational philosophy, classroom assessment, and course design; and by developing essential instructional skills. Certificate credits can be applied toward our PhD program.

Do I needthis to teach?

February 24, 2012Angelia My goal is to teach online as a college professor, I am currently working on my Master's in Adult Education and training. All of the certificate coursework has been covered in my master's except the practicum. Is there a way to just do the practicum? I plan to teach in the field of Adult education while I work on my PhD in the counseling field at Capella.

Want to Study a Certificate in Early Childhood Development

November 22, 2010Jacqueline I am very much interested to study Early Childhood Development since my passion is for children and have some teaching skills naturally. I am employed in the government of Malawi as a Personal Secretary to the Director for Higher Education. I would like to be updated more. In the future I would like to set up a nursery school which is why I have first thought of studying this course at your university.

April 29, 2012Marisa I am interested in several certificate programs, with college teaching being one of them. This is the only one that does not pertain to my degree, but is important because I am interested in teaching at the college level, online or traditional. Is it possible to complete several certificates, finishing one then moving on to the next one? Also I would like to know if since a Master's degree is required before the certificate can be taken, is the certificate program as intensive as the courses within the Master's degree? How long are they in terms of weeks? Since a person can take two courses at once is the work considered easier or less time consuming? Would like to know in order to make the best plans, especially timewise. Thank you for any help with this matter.
