Capella offers several opportunities to save time and money while pursuing your educational goals. The opportunities below are designed to help you earn your degree more efficiently. Transfer credit
Reduce the time and cost of finishing your degree by maximizing your transfer credits. Many
students save substantially by transferring previous academic course work (from regionally accredited or
internationally recognized institutions) into their Capella program. Opportunities exist across degree levels,
so talk to an enrollment counselor
about your options.

Credit for work experience, knowledge, and training
Through Capella's Prior
Learning Assessment, you have the opportunity to earn credit for demonstrating the relevant, college-level
knowledge you've gained through formal and informal work training, continuing education programs, self-instruction,
and other sources*. After faculty review and approval, you can apply these credits to reduce the cost and time to
complete your degree.
Certifications
You may be able to use certifications—such as the PMP®, CISSP®, and many
others—to demonstrate skills and knowledge that match the competencies of specific courses in your degree
program through Capella's Prior Learning Assessment.
Example**: With a PMP® certification, a learner could earn 42 credits toward their bachelor's program
specializing in Project Management, a savings of more than $11,000.
Example**: A learner with a CISSP® certification could earn 20 credits toward their MS in IT, Information
Assurance and Security program, a savings of more than $9,000.
National testing
Approved national testing programs such as the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP),
Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DSST), Advanced Placement (AP), and International
Baccalaureate (IB) may allow you to earn credit by examination for knowledge you've gained through independent
study or professional development.
Military experience
Your military training and experience may apply toward your Capella degree. Talk to an
enrollment counselor to learn more about
submitting military transcripts or read more
about Capella's support for servicemembers, veterans, and their families.
Combined Bachelor's/Master's degree options
You could start earning master's-level credit during your bachelor's program, saving thousands
over the cost of pursuing each degree separately and reducing your time to complete your master's degree by up to 2
quarters.
Tuition discount grows as you learn
Capella supports your long-term educational goals with a
bachelor's-to-master's tuition discount program.
It could mean up to a 45% discount on tuition for your master's degree courses. When you graduate from Capella
with your bachelor's degree and enroll in any
Capella master's degree within 2 years, your total discount percentage can be applied to each master's- level course
you take.
Scholarship and grant opportunities
Capella provides a variety of grants and scholarships
throughout the year to help learners finance their education.
Learner Success Grant
If you're a new Capella learner, you may be eligible to receive a $2,100
