Marketing specialization
Develop the advanced research skills and business knowledge to educate the next generation of marketing professionals, lead organizations, or provide strategic marketing advice. Expand your opportunities for collaboration, enrich your learning experience, and grow your professional network through meaningful connections with faculty and fellow students—in your courses and at three face-to-face residencies. This PhD specialization is designed to build advanced knowledge of marketing science concepts, theories, and research through real-world application. It blends fundamental business disciplines—marketing, finance, accounting, and more—with a focus on other skills crucial for success in today's business climate: ethical theory, managing people, developing a global perspective, and understanding the complex ways that a business's interrelated systems interact with one another. It also features a comprehensive core curriculum of research, strategy, and leadership, plus intensive coursework on the integration of media and technology in marketing strategy and execution, the influence of culture in consumer marketing, and the development and evaluation of marketing theory. People who choose this specialization are often pursuing teaching, leadership, or consulting roles in the area of marketing.
