With professional experience in corrections, law enforcement, social services, and education, Dr. Steven Barthelmeus has a wealth of knowledge to share. And sharing it—through his leadership as the faculty chair of Capella’s Public Safety, Criminal Justice, and Forensics programs—is his passion. In his leadership position, Dr. Barthelmeus is responsible for faculty management; curriculum and program planning; faculty development and improvement; school and university governance; management of mentoring and learner committees; program accreditation; and management of learner issues.

Educational Background
  • BS in Psychology and Criminal Justice, Mercy College, New York
  • EdD in Counseling Psychology, University of Sarasota
Career Highlights
  • Former corrections officer and retired police officer.
  • Over 40 years experience in criminal justice, social services, and education.
  • Extensive experience in higher education in both online and traditional classroom settings.
